Georgetown Debate finishes first semester in Top 16

Georgetown ended the first semester with two teams in the Top 16 at the Wake Forest Tournament hosted November 12th – 14th. Juniors Kieran Lawless and Zidao Wang (Georgetown LW) and Senior Ethan Greer and Sophomore Adam White (Georgetown GW) finished preliminary rounds 5-1 and won their Double Octofinals debates on 3-0 decisions. Both teams lost close Octofinals debates to finish the tournament in the Sweet 16. Georgetown GW was the 11th seed and Georgetown LW was the 12th seed out of 111 teams.
Georgetown CM (First-years Aayush Murarka and Connelly Cowan) and Georgetown KS (First-year Ben Sayers and Junior Haritha Kumar) finished preliminary rounds with 3-3 records and some notable wins over Harvard/Tufts, Kansas, Missouri State, and Baylor.
Georgetown Debate has had a very successful first semester with several elimination round appearances across regional and national tournaments and we look forward to kicking off the second semester at home as we host the Georgetown College Tournament!
