Georgetown Excels at the 2025 National Debate Tournament

Georgetown Debate had a stellar performance at the 2025 National Debate Tournament.
Georgetown juniors Connelly Cowan & Benjamin Sayers received a first round at-large bid to the 2025 National Debate Tournament, cementing their status as one of the top 16 partnerships in the country.
At National Debate Tournament hosted by Gonzaga University in Spokane WA, the team had one of their best performances to date. In the preliminary debates, Georgetown CS defeated two top five ranked bid teams from Dartmouth and Michigan. Georgetown CS’ only preliminary loss was on a 2-1 decision against the team from Binghamton that would go on to win the tournament. Georgetown CS entered elimination rounds at the 6th seed with a 7-1 record.
Georgetown CS made it to the quarterfinals after wins in elimination rounds over Northwestern & George Mason. Connelly was also recognized as the third overall speaker at the tournament, the best performance of a Georgetown debater since Natalie Knez won the top speaker award in 2018.
